Review: Suede - Bloodsports

Following the band's second incarnation after their breakup in 2003, the band released its fifth studio album, called Bloodsports, leading to an unexpected continuation of the band's musical interpretation anno 1996, as well as elements from its latest album A New Morning.

Differing in terms of simplicity and musical implementation in comparison with their previous album A New Morning (released in September 2002, Ed.), the band reverts to the sound of their 1996 album Coming Up, bringing forth melodic and rather melancholic indie rock songs.

Opening with the soft rhythms of Barriers interspersed with the virtuous chorus of the song, the band proves it's musical reversal in an ultimate attempt to convince the inconclusive people of the value of this musical pièce de résistance.

Followed by crowd-puller It Starts And Ends With You, both this one-and-only single and its  predecessor Snowblind are two songs which characterise the retro-side of this new Bloodsports, as it was influenced by the typical rock sound of the 80's.

During the album, gently ushered with the soft rock song Sometimes I Feel I'll Float Away, the album  alters in a softer kind of melodies, reminding of the preceding album A New Morning.

After a break of almost 7 years Suede dropped of where it should have continued in the first place, bringing a mixed album consisting of mainly melancholic and uptempo songs, along with a number of softer and slower compositions.
