First Listen: Bleached - Ride Your Heart

As befits ancient customs, sisterly love includes making a punk/rock-'n-roll album, releasing it through a major indie label of choice and touring around a number of international music venues. The result: a well-received energetic punk rock album influenced by the Great 70's.

Sisters Jennifer and Jessie Clavin started out their musical career with Mika Miko, the band they started in 2003 along with three other newborn musicians. Despite the succes of Mika Miko the band split up in 2010, as several members wanted to return to school. The sisters grew apart but got together a little later, starting with their first duo project, Bleached. A number of well-received singles from the the sisters followed, and therefore, the release of their very own LP was inevitable.

We got a quite promising foretaste of the new album already a couple of months ago, as their record label Dead Oceans posted a first song from their upcoming album Ride Your Heart (to be released tomorrow) on SoundCloud to give us an idea what this first ever Bleached LP would be like: a mix of rough 70's punk rock along with some vintage melodic rock and roll, a sound that significantly contrasts with earlier work from Mika Miko, which was merely based on up-tempo 70's punk rock.

The sound of Bleached reminds of numerous bands, going from The Ramones, The Rolling Stones all the way to Fleetwood Mac, but proves in particularly what the musical duo is able to.
